Hollywood’s hottest actress, Artemisia, laments over the loss of her husband who was killed while swimming with his close friend, Paramount Chief Executive Meraspe. In the scandal surrounding the death, Meraspe disappeared. Suspecting foul play, Artemisia announces on Ellen that she will marry whoever brings her husband’s killer to justice. She is satisfied with this plan, until she unexpectedly develops feelings for her new employee, the pool boy Clitarco.
She cannot risk causing a tabloid scandal in the wake of her husband’s death, yet the attraction is unbearable, so Artemisia sets herself to the task of determining whether or not Clitarco returns her affections, and encourages him to seek out her husband’s murderer. Several attempts are made to gift the pool boy with tokens of her affection, but each one is thwarted by either her best friend and confidant Indomoro, or her aggressive agent Alindo.
Clitarco, for his part, has a secret. He is Meraspe in disguise! Scarred and confused by witnessing his friend Mausolo’s death, and anticipating that he would be blamed for the crime, he assumed the identity of a lowly servant, and hid in his best friend’s mansion – only to develop feelings for the widowed actress. Clitarco/Meraspe wrestles with the paradox of not being able to tell Artemisia how he feels on account of his status as hired help, while at the same time being unable to reveal his true status on account of the hit she put on his head.
Luckily two of his closest friends, Ramiro and Artemia, are part of Artemisia’s entourage. Artemia has been nursing a crush on Meraspe while Ramiro has the hots for Artemia. The love triangle broadens when elsewhere in the mansion high powered agent to the stars Alindo reveals his not-so-secret attraction for his client Artemisia. Her disdain for his affection spurs him to become more overt in his advances and he sets out to find Meraspe so Artemisia will be forced to marry him.
Making things more complicated, Alindo’s ex fiancée, the snubbed Oronta sneaks into Artemisia’s mansion to try and win back Alindo’s affections. Disguised as a photographer, and with the help of her personal assistant Niso – (who disguises himself as a makeup artist) she is quickly hired by the fast talking agent to be his personal assistant.
Things come to a head when Ramiro accidentally lets slip to Alindo that Clitarco is actually Meraspe in disguise. Alindo apprehends the pool boy, and brings him to Artemisia’s mansion. Before he can present his findings to Artemisia, Oronta kidnaps Meraspe and lays claim to the bounty instead. She asks the starlet for control over who Artemisia marries, and over Meraspe’s life. She chooses ultimately to pardon Meraspe and allow him to marry Artemisia. This leaves Alindo free to return to Oronta, and Ramiro happily weds Artemia.
